Oral health diseases affect more than 3.5 billion people globally. These diseases are mainly dental caries and gum diseases which are preventable. The promotive and preventable aspects of oral health care are however still deficient in most settings especially where they are needed most. Vulnerable groups like preschool children, school going children, pregnant women, the elderly and those living with disabilities disproportionately bear the bigger disease burden. This is mostly attributed to their caregivers and healthcare providers’ inadequate knowledge on oral health, and delivery therefrom. The East Africa region is no exemption.
